ENDURANCEOVERCOMINGWALKING IN THE TRUTH

The Day is at Hand

Luke 17:26-30. “And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark , and the flood came and destroyed them all. “It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.” It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.”

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Noah and Lot were both righteous men living in the midst of very evil communities. One was faithfully occupied on a great work of God while the other was simply existing day by day, presumably doing largely much of what those around him were doing.

These two men are a picture of Christendom today. Noah is an example of those who overcome to diligently fulfill the will of God on earth and Lot is an example of those who simply manage to survive through bad times. Lot was spared through the petitions of his uncle, righteous Abraham. The two angels who were sent to rescue Lot had to take his hands and those of his wife and of his two daughters to drag them out of Sodom before judgment fell upon that evil city.

On the earth today there is widespread evidence of increasing violence and of openly flaunted sexual wickedness. Yet it was not these things that Jesus condemned in the days of Noah and Lot. In both cases those destroyed by flood and by fire and brimstone were completely unaware of the signs of the times. They were heedlessly occupied with the ordinary events and needs of everyday life.

God’s great plan in our day and age is to provide an ark of spiritual and moral security right here amidst this growingly evil and unprincipled world. This ark will be in very many parts scattered among all the nations. As those among the ‘around one hundred and twenty in the upper room who were of one mind devoting themselves to prayer’ became the channel for the outpoured Spirit on the day of Pentecost, so God desires companies of the faithful to do likewise and so become channels for the latter rain of the Sprit in these last days.

The cry of those who responded to the message of the Lord through Peter at Pentecost was “Men and brethren what shall we do?” They were exhorted to “Repent every one of you and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Three thousand responded that day and entered the ark of eternal life which was the church, the body of Christ, which will one day be the holy city Jerusalem to become God’s eternal dwelling place and, mystically the bride, the wife of the Lamb.

This ark of security which will float aloft on the waters of chaos and death of the tribulation must be in building right now. No time to waste. No time to lose.
